Beat depression with the Mediterranean Diet



A recent article in Molecular Psychiatry claims that eating a plant-based diet of fruit, veg, grains, nuts, olive oil and including fish, but not too much meat or dairy - appeared to have benefits in terms of mood.


However, experts in the field have been lukewarm to the findings, claiming that more trials are needed before there is conclusive evidence.


While we're still at the very beginning of our understanding of how food affects our holistic health, and in particular the functioning of our brains - it's fascinating to read the research in this space. A well known study showed that calorie restricted diet reducing the onset of age related brain decline, improved memory function and anti-depressant factors. Amazing right - you could say it's food for thought!! ahem...
